Submissions come straight to our team and stay confidential. There is no charge to ask, and we will tell you honestly whether we think open sources can add anything to your case.

01Before you send

If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 We are not an emergency service and we do not monitor this form around the clock.

A missing person should always be reported to local police first. There is no waiting period — you do not have to wait 24 hours, and anyone who tells you otherwise is mistaken. A police report is what makes the national databases work.

We read everything that comes in, but we cannot take every case, and we are not a substitute for law enforcement. Nothing you send here reaches police automatically. If the person is not already in NamUs, that is usually the single highest-value thing a family can do, and it is free.
